Online retailer Amazon.com has acquired the registration rights to the single letter domain names A.CO, K.CO and Z.CO and also to the premium reserved domain name Cloud.CO.
This announcement was made yesterday by the official domain registry for the .CO domain, .CO Internet S.A.S., which signed an agreement with Amazon.com to this end.
Both partners have not disclosed the terms of the acquisition. According to .CO Registry, it intends to announce additional high profile domain name deals in the coming months.
Amazon.com notes that with these registration rights it has joined the league of other online businesses, brands and entrepreneurs that are using .CO domain names.
These domain names enable businesses to more easily connect, communicate and engage with those who are mobile and socially connected.
It has only been less than one year when .CO was launched to the general public and within this period about one million .CO domain names have already been registered in more than 200 countries all across the globe.
